future!
It is the day after Christmas 2006, and undoubtedly those of us in the Western Hemisphere are still reeling from the American mid-term elections. The week before, the Rapture happened, and Democrats around the US found themselves unopposed. But I must implore those of you in North Dakota: Do
NOT elect Bob Goatse as your Senator! The results will be even worse than all the Republicans disappearing! (I know, surprised the hell out of me too, pun mildly intended.)
Note: As much as I myself may not believe it, this is not a message from the future. Surprisingly enough, one of the seats in North Dakota is actually up for elections in 2006...I just picked a random state that wasn't one of the first to come to mind. Discussion on whether or not such criterion allows for a truly random pick will have to wait until I can slay this giant dragon that's throwing stars at me.
If I’m going to post here before the year’s up, I should do it now. I won’t feel like it tomorrow or the next day, and after that I won’t have any internets for a week or two.
I haven’t been posting lately because not much has been happening, but also because I just haven’t been motivated to. I haven’t been motivated to do much of anything lately. I don’t know if it’s the unforeseen long-term effects of old decisions catching up with me, the standard rut I run into every once in a while, or something else. I just need more energy, I think.
I’m already at or near energy optimality in my current everyday activity, so I guess the key is to change my activity. In that vein, I make my resolution, which I may or may not bother to keep or even acknowledge* in the coming year: I resolve to be more of an asshole to those who deserve it, and less of an asshole to those who don’t. I wouldn’t even bother with the second part, but I wouldn’t want to bother generating more assholery than I need.
I’ll also try to lie to myself 10% less in the coming year, with a long-term self-delusion goal of less than 250 ppm by 2012. As for whether or not that will cause me to reverse any of the things that I may have done due to these possible falsehoods, I cannot say. As with most of my internal changes, there may be no visible outward effect. Either way, that’s probably the last time I’ll ever mention it.
Going into my last semester of college starting in January. I finished this semester with exactly 3.0, a B average. Not really surprised, I didn’t try at all this time, and my motivation/energy have been on a mostly downward trend for a pretty long time now. Hell, I didn’t even put any weird coded message into this post, that should tell you something right there.**
What else...can’t think of anything, really. Nothing left to say that I can get to pass the appropriate vote in my internal Senate*** and isn’t too dumb to even bring up. Then again, I do consider most of this post to be rambly and dumb, but it’s for posterity, and I place a relatively high – perhaps inordinately so – value on posterity.
If there is a coded message, that would be it. But there isn’t, so it wasn’t.
*nod*
I’ll try to write more entertaining posts come January. With that, I wish upon you all a better 2007.
*New-years’ resolutions are immune to my normal oath-keeping process. I have not yet exploited this fact, but I do not doubt that I possibly could, some day.
