Tired.
First post in a while. I would have done this one yesterday, to mark the first day of my 7th semester here, but I figured I'd wait and see how each class was so I could comment on them maybe.
I also had a post-chain planned out that would use my personal experience and recent news stories to offend approximately 387% of the population*, but I'll let that go.
For once.
None of my five classes this semester seem particularly difficult, but I may have to put in a nonzero amount of effort. Given my level of activity this summer, this may or may not be breaking several physical laws.
I'll probably also have to start sleeping in more discrete chunks of time. I'm not that much more tired than normal, but I can already feel my alertness (and through it, my reaction time) suffering.
Can't let that happen.
There is one thing I'll do differently from today in the future. Because of my legendary self-handicapping capabilities, I have one class that begins 15 minutes after the previous class ends.* That wouldn't be so bad, but it's nearly a mile away** and I have to cross two heavily trafficked streets (and one less traveled, but more dangerous*** street). I made it a few minutes early*****, but it took considerably more effort than I'm willing to give, even for cardio. I'm going to get back into my more relaxed pace that I took on over the last year. If this is the first time I've mentioned that, it's ok, because I often wait a year to mention things. (I think I've mentioned that before.)
Even I don't know what I'm talking about at this point, so I guess that's it.
*When I register for my last set of classes next semester, I'm going to see if it will let times overlap at all, or even completely.
**Well, probably more like a kilometer. But hey, it's my story, I'll tell it how I want.
***Danger measured in accidents/year. I think I mentioned this in passing**** before.
****Not a pun.
*****Well, probably more like 215.3 seconds. But hey, I'm not a robot. Technically speaking.
A few random anecdotes.*
The last 3-5 days have melded together. It was a slow process, that didn't end (or, perhaps, begin) until a day or two ago. Either way, I start my senior year some time in the next 2-3 weeks** so I should probably "get my act together" and "stop being an idiot".***
In other news, my birthday is less than a month away now. I could have said that on the 7th, but I was busy. And I don't think I came downstairs on the 8th. And I'm not sure I was even awake on the 9th. I was going to plan a big party and invite all my friends****, but I don't have a cage big enough for that.
While I was watching the news a few hours ago (helps me remember what day it is, somewhat) I noted a "breaking story" about how they stopped a plot to get terrorists in the country on flights from the UK. Of course, it wasn't Fatherland-er, Homeland Security that caught on and arrested a whole bunch of people, it was the other guys.
Anyway.
Flights from there to the US have recently been upgraded to our special-edition Red security alert, and all other flights have gotten a complementary bump to Orange class. Of course, that's only two and one (respectively) notches above our normal "Elevated" terror alert status, but hey, it's all we were prepared for.*****
With that in mind, we should add new colors to the terror alert chart, so we can offer a higher amount of gradation (but not necessarily precision. We don't do precision). Maybe a darker red, or even black, at the top. Of course, our duly-elected government would then be accused of racism, so maybe we could reuse each of the old colors, but with a + or * next to the name. Of course, it might confuse people if we go from "Severe Risk" to "Low-Plus Risk", but that's the risk you take when you try to get information to the unwashed masses.
Before November.
*Like I do more than that normally.
**I'll check on that one day; I promise.
***Not actual quotes. (At least not in this context.)
****not really, lol
*****How do they decide what level the terror alert should be at anyway? (I was thinking that they have some really neurotic guy who is afraid of, well, everything. They tell him about the terrorist threat(s) of the day, then have him change his pants. The amount of fecal matter present in his old change of clothes determines what level we are at each day.)
I've heard it said that they have meetings at least once a day to determine what the level should be for the day (that should say enough about the process on its own, but it's me that's talking here), but it doesn't seem like the steps they take in making a decision are really that involved. I mean, we've never been below "Elevated - Significant Risk of Terrorist Attacks". Maybe the guy they're using to determine the level is just full of shit and they don't realize it. Or they do realize it. Whichever's funnier. *passes out*
